So, comments, suggestions, error corrections, etc. are most welcome. I received a HUGE batch of material originally from the now-infamous Alan Michaels, and I folded it into what we had, but didn't really try to eliminate duplicates and etc. Thus, there are likely to be everything from typos to glaring mistakes in this collection, due SOLELY to the fact that I don't know anything about most of this stuff, and just copied and cut and pasted as best I could.
I'd really like our Discography to have some semblance of looking good and being correct and complete. So, help me out, folks!

Thanks to Scott Speakman, who sent me this list, and to Shane Pitkin,
from whom he got it. I do not know who compiled this. Scott sez, "It
may not be complete. I know it doesn't contain 'Whisky' or the new
box set. It may not include all of the singles that were released (I
believe Song for America and It Take a Woman's Love were also
released, for instance. Perhaps they did not place on the charts and
that is why they are not listed. Or maybe not.)."
As always, corrections and additions are welcome.

Paradox (1982 Omaha concert)
Down the Road (Spirit Tour)
From Alan Michaels (Closet Chronicle):
If you're going to include the _Carry On_ compilation, please add the
following to your "official" non-promo album discography and
videography. These records/videos CAN be found by the dedicated
collector/record hunter. I have these items, so I know that they
exist.
Other Kansas Releases
---------------------
_Point of Known Return_ (picture disc, 1977)
(Commercially released picture LP)
_Kansas_ (repackaged studio album, 1978)
(Spain only release, re-release of their first album, part of the
"Historia de la Musica Rock" series, different cover art)
_Best of Kansas_ (video, 1983)
(USA release, Sony Video, note title doesn't include "The")
_The Best of Kansas_ (compilation, 1984)
(USA release, note: new release in 1993 on the 2-inch CD format from Sony)
_Seventies - Kansas' Greatest Hits_ (compilation, assumed late 1980s,
no release date) (Brazil only release, contains the same tracks as the
1984 _Best of Kansas_, with different cover art)
_Point of Know Return/Leftoverture_ (repackaged studio albums, LP,
1989) _Leftoverture/Point of Know Return_ (repackaged studio albums,
CD & cassette, 1989)
(worldwide release of a double-LP, cassette, and CD set. Only known
LPs are from Holland and CDs are from Germany (but probably other
releases exist). Cassettes were released in the USA. For some reason,
the LP version of this repackaging lists _POKR_ first and puts the
_POKR_ tracks first. The CD and cassette versions list _Leftoverture_
first. In essence, then, these are separate releases.)
_The Best of Kansas_ (compilation, 1989)
(USA release, NOT the same as the 1984 _The Best of Kansas_ release,
one of the rarest Kansas cassettes/CDs; includes "Don't Take Your Love
Away" and "Windows")
_Dust in the Wind - Kansas Best_ (compilation, 1991)
(German only CD release, on the Zounds label, cat # COLLSP982567,
includes "Loner," "Relentless," "Fight Fire with Fire," and a live
version of "The Wall")
_The Best of Kansas_ (compilation, 1991)
(Taiwan only release, uses pieces of the artwork from the 1984 _Best of
Kansas_ release, HOWEVER, it includes 6 studio tracks each from
_Leftoverture_ and _Point of Know Return_)
_Kansas - "Star Box"_ (compilation, 1993)
(Japan only release, part of the "Star Box" CD series; includes
"Diamonds and Pearls" and "Fight Fire with Fire")
_Live from the Whisky_ (live album, 1992)
(CD, USA/Canada, includes "Lonely Street" as a live, bonus track)
_Live from the Whisky_ (live album, 1992) (CD, Germany)
(CD, Germany, includes "Journey from Mariabronn" as a live, bonus track)
(USA/Canada "Whisky" releases include the bonus track "Lonely Street";
German release includes "Journey from Mariabronn", making it
officially a different release)
(German release is on Nibelung Records/Intercord Record Services, cat
# IRS CD 972.131)
(There is also supposed to a Japanese/Southeast Asian release, but no
word on the contents. Assumed to be the same as the USA release.)
_Live from the Whisky_ (video, 1992)
(Doesn't include the bonus track from the CD)
Livgren
-------
_Seeds of Change_ (1980)
(Note: Available on CD as a complete album with original artwork/liner notes
from Sony/Japan. Also available on CD as part of the _Decade_ release from
Sparrow.)
_Time Line_ (1984, with AD)
* _Art of the State_ (1985, with AD)
(NOTE: no "The" in the front of the title)
(Note: Most of this album can be found on the _AD/Compact Favorites_ and
_Decade_ CDs. This leaves the songs "Heartland," "Zion," and "The Only Way to
Have A Friend" unavailable on CD. It's highly unlikely Sparrow will ever
release the complete album on CD.)
_Reconstructions_ (1986, with AD)
Originally released in LP and cassette formats. Later released as a CD on
Sparrow's Kerygmatic label (KRD 5406). Some of the instruments were rerecorded
on parts of the CD (most obvious on the bass guitar of the first song).
_Prime Mover_ (1988, with AD)
(Note: Only technically "with AD". Warren Ham does the vocals, Livgren does
all the instruments)
_AD/Compact Favorites_ (1989, with AD, CD format only)
(Note: 5 tracks each from _Art of the State_ and _Reconstructions_. This CD
is from the budget-compilation line "Compact Favorites" from Sparrow)
_One of Several Possible Musiks_ (1989)
(Note: Won the 1990 Dove Award for Best Instrumental Album of the Year)
Decade (1992, two-CD/cassette collection)
(Note: Includes all the music from _Time Line_ and _Seeds of Change_, plus
three tracks from _Art of the State_. Between the _AD/Compact Favorites_
release and this release, MOST of _Art of the State_ is on CD)
AD's song, "Games of Chance and Circumstance," from _Art of the State_
appears on the collection cassette tape, _It's Gotta STOP! Artists Against
the Abortion Holocaust_ from Diadem Music, 1989. This is the only known AD
song to appear outside of an AD recording.
Walsh
-----
_Schemer-Dreamer_ (1980)
(Note: Available on CD as a complete album with original artwork/liner notes
from Sony/Japan.)
*_1st_ (1983, with Streets)
(Note: The title is just _1st_)
*_Crimes in Mind_ (1985, with Streets)
(Note: The two Streets albums DO appear on a 1993 pirate CD from
Italy, titled "Crimes in Mind/I" [Al Bundy Records, SE 110340]. There
is no legitimate CD release of these yet; see the Starter Kit for info
on where to write to complain about this appalling scenario.)
Guest Appearances
-----------------
Walsh/Ehart on Steve Hackett's _Please Don't Touch_
(Steve sings on "Narnia" and "Racing in A")
Steve Walsh sings lead vocals on Jeff Watson's _Around the Sun_
(Four tracks: "Life Goes On," "Around the Sun," "Anna Waits," and
"Tightrope")
"Steve Walsh also sings on the Dregs' "Industry Standard" album. He
is not credited there due to his recording company's refusal to sign a
deal with the Dregs' company for Steve's services. I don't remember
the track(s) on which he appears, but listening to the album will make
it obvious!" - Chris Anderson
Walsh on Paul Barerre's "On My Own Two Feet"
Walsh and Ehart produced _The Blonz_ by The Blonz
Livgren with Hiroshima?
Livgren made a guest concert appearance with Rachel Rachel, as well as
appearing in a promo video
Livgren appears as a guest musician on _Rejoice_, _Singer Sower_, AND _Night
Light_ from 2nd Chapter of Acts.
(On _Rejoice_: guitar, synthesizer, and piano [no song break downs];
On _Singer Sower_: guitar and synth on "Beware My Heart," "Ocean Liner,"
"Takin' the Easy Way," "No One Will Have a Secret," and "I'm Wastin' No More
Time";
On _Night Light_ guitar/synth on "On No! Can't Believe It!" and "Jesus Will
Be Right Back")
Livgren appears as a guest keyboard player on Robin Crow's _Electric Cinema_
(presumably only on the two tracks he co-wrote with Crow: "Seven Leagues
Under" and "The Great Abyss" [I'll be calling Livgren this weekend to chat
about this release.]) Rendezvous Entertainment label.
Ragsdale played and arranged the string parts on _Siamese Dream_ by
Smashing Pumpkins ("Disarm" and "Luna").
Ragsdale also plays violin on four tracks from Eric Mantel's _A Time
to Remember_.
Other Appearances
-----------------
Livgren co-wrote, engineered, and produced a full album (that was never
released - no reason given by Livgren) for Suzan Shewbridge called _First
Offering_. AD fans will know her name. She's done backing vocals on some of
the AD albums, and the forthcoming _Xylon_.
Livgren engineered and co-produced Michael Gleason's solo album _Voices from
the Old World_ (1986, Kerygma Records). Michael Gleason was the lead
singer/keyboardist for AD from 1984-1986.
John Elefante has engineered, co-produced (with brother Dino) so many albums
that it's impossible to list them all. He was responsible for nearly all the
Petra albums from 1986-1992. He's handled just about every group on his
Pakaderm Records label. He's played on and co-written many songs for many
artists.
John Elefante co-produced and co-engineered Michael Gleason's second solo
album _Children of Choices_ (1990, Pakaderm Records). He even sung backing
vocals along with Kansas-touring alumnus Terry Brock.
John Elefante formed Mastedon and released the albums _It's a Jungle Out
There_ and _Lofcaudio_. Mastedon appears on _Video Stampede_ (a
commercially-released video compilation from Pakaderm Records). He also
formed the 'we are the world'-type group "The Heard" and released the song
and video for "We Need Jesus."
John Elefante sings a duet with Sandi Patti on "Home Will Find You" on her
latest album, "Le Voyage." (Kansas fans should check this single out. It's
not bad!)
Steve Morse -- Won't even get started! There's too much ground to cover.

are the rarest])

Entirely illegal, bad stuff that you should NOT buyBootleg Albums
It is believed that at least one or two VERY LIMITED pressings of live Kansas shows were actually released on vinyl. No one I know has an actual "bootleg" album in the true sense of the word.
